The courtyard was completed in July 2005 when Norfolk actor and writer Stephen Fry opened the new development on a day of celebrations.
In 2008 an agreement was reached with adjacent property owners to allow the addition of new units to the Secret Garden, completing the courtyard and bringing NFU Mutual into the development. In the same year local businessman Iain Wilson, owner of Byfords, added the Kings Head to his portfolio resulting in significant improvements to the neighbourhood.
Appleyard is proud of the independent nature of its offer, of its record of long lease tenants, many of whom have been there from the outset. Above all we feel that Appleyard provides a pleasant environment in which to work and shop.
Rhu is particularly grateful to master local builders Michael Bunting and Son, who delivered each phase on budget and on schedule but always with pride in the quality of their work. The original development was Runner-up and Highly Commended in the coveted annual Graham Allen Awards for Conservation and Design.
